Wightman nets six in Oakwell romp

OAKWELL FC got off to a flying start in the Premier Division of the Spen Valley League, thumping George Healey 140 in their first game.
Formerly known as Jardys, Oakwell were 70 up at halftime and James Wightman led the way with a massive sixgoal haul.
Their other scorers were Johnny Beverley with four, Jason Campbell (two), Chris Cannings and Rob Ives.
Wellington scored three goals in the last 30 minutes to beat Thornhill Utd 51.
Jordan Ledgard scored four for Wellington, who also had Thomas Yarold on target.
Kevin Tarrant got United’s consolation.
Quarry drew 33 with Bradford in a seesaw game. The Dewsbury side led 32 at the break thanks to goals from Brad Jackson (two) and Mohammed Shohib, with Richard Farrill also having an excellent game.
Bradford hit back in the second half with goals from Andrew Dennis and Gurpal Bhambra.
In Division One Park beat new side Stithy 82 after leading 50 at the interval.
Dave Berry and Sam Pickles both bagged hattricks and Michael Chadwick and Arron Dewhurst also found the net for Park.
Ben Wilson and Stephen Gawthorpe were on target for Stithys.
Ring Of Bells lost 41 to Marsh as Tom Nixon scored a hattrick for the victors.
David Long also got on the scoresheet for Marsh, with Ben Ellis getting Ring of Bells’ goal.
Oakwell Reserves beat Howden Clough 21 thanks to an unfortunate own goal  from Derek Fozzard in the closing stages of the game.
Andrew Lawton scored Oakwell firsthalf goal, with Corey Starky putting in a manofthematch performance.
Mark Drake got Clough back on terms in the second half before Fozzard’s own goal.
