THORNHILL Trojans secured the Pennine League Division Two title with a 424 demolition job at Wyke.
The Trojans held a slender eightpoint lead at the interval before whitewashing their opponents as they romped to victory late on. Illdiscipline, however, resulted in the tie being brought to a close six minutes early.
Scott Green opened the scoring with a Thornhill try on four minutes, which Craig Holmes converted for 60.
Darren Robinson’s try, shortly after, increased the away side’s advantage to 12 points as Holmes tagged on the extras.
Wyke then bagged their only try of the game as Ash Hutchinson crashed over from close range.
On the stroke of half time, Trojans captain Jake Wilson was sinbinned for dissent after being summoned by the referee.
However after the break, Thornhill hit championshipwinning form and completed victory with tries from Sam Ratcliffe, Wilson (2), Liam Morley and Robinson.
