OSSETT TOWN have bolstered their playing and coaching team by signing highly-rated full-back Dave Merris.
Merris has been reunited with Town manager John Reed after signing for the Evo-Stik Division One North side.
Defender Merris will combine playing duties with a coaching role at Ingfield.
He recently finished his second spell at Harrogate Town, having previously played for Reed at Harrogate for two seasons between 2001 and 2003.
The newly-signed man was in Reed’s side that won the NPL Division One title at a canter in 2002.
Meanwhile, OSSETT ALBION have announced a number of pre-season friendlies ahead of their 2014/15 Evo-Stik First Division North campaign.
Albion, who finished second-bottom of the division last campaign, were given a reprieve from relegation as a number of clubs dropped out of the league.
And it appears that the Queen’s Terrace side have their eyes set on a higher position as they embark on a busy pre-season period.
Albion have a total of eight games pencilled in, four of which will be played by the full first team line-up.
The club begin with four away ties at Armthorpe Welfare (Sat Jul 12), Maltby (Mon Jul 14), Hemsworth (Sat Jul 19) and Shelley (Wed Jul 23).
The first team then take centre stage as they travel to Cleethorpes on July 26, before back-to-back home fixtures against Rotherham United (Wed Jul 30), Gap Connah’s Quay (Sun Aug 2) and Stocksbridge (Sat Aug 9).
