OSSETT TOWN eventually overcame Billingham Synthonia 3-2 in the FA Cup first qualifying round at Ingfield. The replay was required following Synthonia’s late 86th minute equaliser from the penalty spot to make it 2-2 in last Saturday’s match (Sep 3).
But with home advantage second time around Town found themselves trailing to an early Macauley Langstaff strike.
Danny Frost, who also scored for Town in last Saturday’s encounter levelled things up on the half-hour mark.
In the second period the visitors went in front through Matthew Crust, but Grant Black’s men turned the game on its head with Alex Peterson’s equaliser in the 82nd minute and Frost’s second two minutes from time to book their place in the next round.
The Reds return to First Division North action tomorrow (Sat Sep 10, 3pm) when they travel to Kendal Town.
