Thornhill Trojans host successful boxing night

THORNHILL TROJANS players pulled on boxing gloves and entered the ring all in the aid of charity.

A host of past, present and guest players did battle in seven bouts, smashing last year’s total of £1,000 raised for Help For Heroes.

Head coach James Ratcliffe added to an electric atmosphere, welcoming Scott Croft and John Godding to the ‘squared circle’ for the evening’s opening fight.

The pair did not disappoint, though Croft battled bravely enough to take the spoils.

Former Dewsbury winger Gary North later overcame local favourite Mark Hodgson, while Aaron Allerton battled past a relentless Jack Stead.

Ashley Hill fell to defeat at the hands of Dale Brook and, in a battle of Thornhill legends, Rob Hoyle edged Neil Ratcliffe on points.

The fight of the night followed as Connah Jackson displayed awesome strength, powering past Seb Firth.

Adam Hoyle later brought the curtain down on a fabulous evening of charity boxing, marching past Ian Rose in a hard-fought affair.
