Super Town power to playoff final

Winger Danny Ward aims to use last season’s playoff heartache as the inspiration for powering Huddersfield Town to promotion glory.
Ward, who is on loan from Bolton, was in the Swindon side that lost to Millwall in the League One playoff final 12 months ago.
He will make a second successive playoff final appearance on May 29 after helping the Terriers reach the showpiece event on Wednesday.
The 19yearold scored a cracker from the edge of the box in a thrilling semifinal second leg with Bournemouth that ended 33 after extra time.
It meant the tie finished 44 on aggregate following a 11 first leg draw, with the match being settled by a tense penalty shootout.
Ward showed great composure to put away his spot kick as Town made it through to the Old Trafford final 42 on penalties.
He said: “Last season was a bitter disappointed when I lost in the final with Swindon. Hopefully this year I can put that right.
“A winners’ medal would be the best moment of my career so far by a long way, and we’re going there to win, no doubt about it.
“We won’t be overawed by the occasion. We’ve definitely got the ability, experience and character in the squad to win promotion.”
Neutrals enjoyed a televised humdinger of a semifinal second leg in which Bournemouth came from behind twice to lead 32 in extra time.
It moved former Football League chairman Lord Mawhinney to declare the contest as one of the greatest playoff semifinals ever.
The exTory cabinet minister, who was at Wednesday’s game, said: “What a way to mark 25 years of the playoffs! Shame somebody had to lose.”
Town’s trip to Old Trafford will be a first visit to the fabled Theatre of Dreams since they last played in the top flight nearly 40 years ago.
They will be going for a hattrick of playoff final wins, having beaten Bristol Rovers and Mansfield in their only two previous appearances.
The club have been given more than 35,000 tickets for Old Trafford’s west side, which takes in the famous Stretford End.
But only disabled and hospitality tickets are available from the Galpharm Stadium, the rest are to be sold via Ticketmaster.
