LIVERSEDGE finally got back to league action, after being frustrated by the weather, and won emphatically 5-1 at Winterton on Wednesday night.
The NCEL tie was only their second match of 2014 and they certainly made the most of it as they hammered their Scunthorpe opponents.
The Clayborners set about their five-goal demolition as early as the third minute when Gibril Bojang curled a left-foot shot in to the top corner.
The away side continued their early momentum and added a second on eight minutes when Joel Farrar scored his first for the club, firing in at the far post.
Chances were coming thick and fast for the visitors and they were three goals up when Matt Thompson scored on 38 minutes.
In a one-sided first period, in-form Billy Grogan added a fourth in the 38th minute, skipping round two defenders and finishing in the bottom corner.
The game was ended as a contest as half-time approached, with Brook Newton’s deflected shot making it 5-0 to Liversedge.
On 51 minutes Winterton’s Declan Marshall took advantage of a rare Sedge slip to score.
However, despite their best efforts, it proved a mere consolation as Sedge continued to a 5-1 victory.
