YOUNG Dewsbury swimmer Charlotte Robinson won the bronze medal in the 200m butterfly at last week’s British Summer Championships.
The 15-year-old trains at the City of Leeds Swimming Club, having started swimming at Dewsbury Sports Centre when she was six and competed since the age of nine.
That bronze is her latest achievement at her age group, following a silver medal at the English Winter Championships in December.
Last year the St John Fisher pupil was also selected to represent Team GB at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Hungary.
“To be third place in the British rankings as a 15-year-old is just fantastic,” said her mother Kath Robinson.
“She works very hard, she trains for around 16 hours in the pool per week, and that’s before and after school.
“Before school she has to get up at 4am to train for two hours before she goes to school.
“We don’t believe it every time she has another accomplishment and we’re still completely amazed by her talents.”
The next target for Charlotte will be the North East Regional Championships in November, followed by the English National Winter Championships the following month.
