Sorry Smokin Aces are hit for seven

IN THE Spen Valley league only three games took place, including Salthorn’s trip to face to Whitburn Athletic which saw the visitors collect all three points thanks to an impressive 5-2 victory.

Salthorn netted through David Goodchild and a pair of braces from Joe Brown and Stephen Kennedy.

But a hat-trick from the hosts’ Sohail Mahmood insured Salthorn had to work hard for their win.

The victory means Salthorn climb to ninth, a point behind Whitburn in seventh.

In the First Division there were double the fixtures,  with Inter Batley being the stand-out performers after their emphatic 7-1 away win at Smokin Aces.

Raees Lorgat scored four with Arshad Navsarka, Osama Ahmed and Abu Samad Patel completing the scoring for the away side.

Daniel Pandor replied for the hosts.

West End Park’s struggles this season continued in their 7-2 defeat at Howden Clough.

The hosts dominated with braces from Simon Moore and Reece Scholes before Ryan Kerracher, Lewis Boddy and Dom Carr completed the seven-goal haul.

West End replied with goals from George Garforth and Paul Lawson and remain in search of their first win of the season.
