Skipper wants to start "winning ugly"

CLUB CAPTAIN Peter Clarke says that Huddersfield Town may have to abandon their objective of playing attractive football in order to start winning ugly on the road.

Following their 30 defeat at Norwich last weekend the Terriers, currently fifth in League One, face another awayday challenge on Boxing Day when they travel to midtable Carlisle (3pm).

The loss at Carrow Road means that Town have only won twice away in the league this season, having conceded nine goals in their last four league games.

Clarke believes the defensive lapses that have plagued Huddersfield this season can only be fixed with hard work on the training ground but the central defender also says that Lee Clarks highscoring Town side may have to lose some of the attractive qualities that have won them plaudits so far.

We just need the points at the moment, it really doesnt have to be pretty, said the 27yearold.

Wins are the only thing that matters, so it may be that we shouldnt try and play attractive football and we should just start trying to win ugly.

Maybe a 10 win with a goal that banjos in off someones backside might not be all that bad!

Weve been working hard this week to try and rectify what went wrong at Norwich, which really was a game of two halves, if you pardon the clich
