Shaw Cross struggles mount up in National Conference League

SHAW CROSS Sharks lost 50-28 in National Conference League Division One in a feisty encounter against Skirlaugh.

Two players from each side were sin-binned for fighting on 15 minutes.

Skirlaugh took a 10-6 lead with tries from Ash Leaming and Mike Johnson plus a Carl Puckering conversion. The Sharks replied with a Danny Stanley try and Will Gledhill goal.

But by the hour mark Skirlaugh were 44-6 up.

Johnson completed his hat-trick with two for Marvin Lee and one each for Connor Myers and Tom Saltmer. Puckering landed five more goals.

Joe Buggle hit back with a try for the Sharks before he was sent off for swearing.

Lee completed his hat-trick for Skirlaugh before the home side hit a purple patch with Declan Breteton, Joe Halloran and Thomas Ripley all scoring late Sharks tries with Gledhill adding three conversions.

It was too little too late to prevent the Leeds road side falling to their eighth loss of the campaign however.

They look to distance themselves from the drop with a win away at fellow strugglers Millom tomorrow (Saturday June 25, 2.30pm).
