GAMES are running out for Shaw Cross Sharks if they are to climb to safety in National Conference League Division One.
The Leeds Road side lost 24-6 away at Underbank Rangers who now occupy a play-off place in the division.
Meanwhile defeat left the Sharks in the relegation zone just one point adrift of safety.
Sam Rochford was the man of the match for Rangers, with the deadlock not broken until midway through the first half.
Jordan Higo crossed for a Rangers try with Richard Pogson landing the conversion, but it took the Sharks just five minutes to reply.
Jack Gledhill went in for the visitors and Danny Flowers goaled what would be the Sharks’ only try of the game.
An Adam Ryder four-pointer, plus a Pogson goal gave the home side a 12-6 lead.
They then sealed the game with two tries in the last seven minutes from Alex Chatterton and Higo.
Pogson followed that up with a penalty and one conversion to round off a solid win for Underbank.
The Sharks continue their survival battle tomorrow (Sat Sep 10, 2.30pm) against second-bottom Millom, knowing victory could drag them out of the bottom four.
