LIVERSEDGE’S long awaited return to action ended in defeat, as they were edged 1-0 at Worksop Parramore.
The Clayborners were playing their first match in the NCEL since December, and were unlucky as they lost to a penalty from the hosts.
The visitors were unfortunate not to come away with more as Billy Grogan – returning from a long injury lay off – fired a shot over the bar after a defence-splitting pass from Gibril Bojang.
The Premier Division side held the hosts at 0-0 until the 58th minute, when the home side gained a penalty which Lee Whittington slotted home.
Bojang had a chance himself, but he was halted in his attempts by a last-ditch tackle.
The away side finished strongest – despite their long spell without a game – and could have levelled, but Dom Riordan had his shot smothered by the Worksop goalkeeper.
