LIVERSEDGE FC consolidated top spot in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division following a convincing 5-0 win away at Barton Town Old Boys.
The game was evenly balanced in the opening exchanges, but Sedge struck first with a goal from Vaughan Redford after 20 minutes and less than five minutes later the away side had doubled their lead thanks to the efforts of Rhys Davies.
In the second period Jonathan Rimmington’s men looked to add to their lead and they succeeded when Redford bagged his second of the match.
Joe Walton made sure the points would return to Clayborn with a goal in the 57th minute, and the win was completed thanks to Mathias Britton’s strike in the 90th minute which made it five for Liversedge.
The Clayborners have now gone two games without conceding a goal and netted nine times in the process. Sedge fans hope to see more of the same when their side travels to Thornaby tomorrow (Sat, 3pm) in the FA Vase first qualifying round.
