RECOVERING: Captain Austin Buchanan is closing in on a Rams return
DEWSBURY head coach Glenn Morrison is preparing to welcome back club captain Austin Buchanan.
The Rams star was ruled out with a re-occurring knee injury earlier in the season, but has finally been given the all clear by Tetley's Stadium medical staff.
Buchanan, 29, has been sorely missed and his return promises to hand Australian Morrison a major boost as Dewsbury fight to secure their play-off spot.
“Getting Austin back at this stage in the season could be massive for us and our chances.
“He’s now back in full training and although he is not 100 per-cent ready, he is back in contention.
“It looks as though things were coming together for us on the injury front, but that now isn’t the case.
“Lucas Walshaw went for an x-ray after the Keighley game and there were injuries to Karl Pryce, Tommy Gallagher, Brad Watkinson and James Craven which don’t look great.”
The quintet were expected to miss Friday night's trip to Whitehaven, which was cancelled as a live-televised event.
Broadcasters Premier Sports wanted the tie to go ahead as planned but screened it at 10pm ‘as live’ having opted to drop the all-Championship affair in favour of Europa League qualifying action.
