Rams boss promises fans quality signings

TWO topquality signings will be announced by Dewsbury Rams coach Warren Jowitt this weekend.
The players, one from Super League and one with plenty of Super League experience, will be unveiled at a fans’ forum event at the Tetley’s Stadium on Sunday – and Jowitt has revealed he’s also talking to two more players from the upper echelons of the game.
“I think fans will be pleased at who we’ve recruited and who we’ve retained this year – and all will be revealed on Sunday,” he said.
“I’m still talking to two more lads from Super League and hopefully everything will be tied up in the next few days.
“Then I can switch off and head to Spain for a week and live like a hermit without rugby league for a bit!”
The Rams have lost 12 of this year’s large squad but Jowitt has already brought in 10 new faces, with two more still in the pipeline.
Loose forward Adam Hayes will also return from a longterm shoulder injury which ruled him out for most of the season, effectively giving Jowitt another new player.
The coach was not perturbed about losing centre Alex Bretherton to Heavy Woollen rivals Batley this week and said: “I didn’t want to retain Alex this season and we’ve still got a strong squad without him.”
The Dewsbury players are set to regroup on October 18, which will have given them nine weeks off before they get down to what is widely acknowledged to be one of the longest and toughest preseason training regimes in the parttime game.
The Rams free fans’ forum event takes place on Sunday, in the Royal Suite at Tetley’s Stadium, starting at 3pm.
The new signings for 2011 will be announced, as well as details of next year’s season tickets. Free pie and peas will also be on offer and all supporters are encouraged to attend.
