EXPERIENCE: Jason Price, pictured here in action for Doncaster, is likely to prove a key figure for Town
OSSETT TOWN manager Craig Elliott has added a “wealth of experience” to his line-up following the capture of former Championship star Jason Price.
The Welshman, 36, agreed to join the Ingfield outfit over the weekend, subject to international clearance.
And he made an instant impact, scoring as Town opened their pre-season account with a 2-0 triumph over Pontefract on Tuesday night.
The livewire Welshman has enjoyed spells with Hull City, Doncaster Rovers, Millwall, Bradford City, Brentford and Tranmere Rovers over the years, Ossett Town becoming his 16th club.
Most recently, back in May, Price bagged a pair of goals to help Prestatyn past Bangor City in the Welsh Cup final – securing the club a Europa League
spot for the first time in their history.
Price undoubtedly arrives as the club’s marquee signing ahed of the coming campaign and has been joined this week by former Farsley forward Gareth Grant.
“I am delighted to have signed two great players in Jason and Gareth,” said Elliott.
“Both have the experience to help others in the squad, as I felt we needed to balance it out with having so many younger players.
“After talking to them both, (I realised) they still have the desire to do well and be successful. That was all I wanted to hear.”
The pair were likely to feature in last night’s trip to Clayborn for their second pre-season outing against North Counties East League Liversedge.
