Pre-season training is an uphill task for Cleck boys

CLECKHEATON RUFC have boosted their pre-season training regime with a fitness session on the steep inclines at Bradford Bulls’ Odsal stadium.

The National League Three North side’s new coach, Pete Seabourne, is a former Bradford RL player and is a friend of current Bulls head coach James Lowes, who agreed to let the RU side use the facilities.

Seabourne's father, Barry, was also the Bradford coach in the 1980s and played for Leeds and Great Britain.

The Moorenders used the stadium’s steps and slopes as part of their pre-season conditioning and will be going again in a few weeks’ time.

Cleckheaton kick off their new league season with a home game against Firwood Waterloo on Saturday September 5.

Meanwhile, there are a small number of places available for teams wanting to take part in the club’s annual golf day, held at the nearby Cleckheaton and District Golf Club.

The event takes place on Friday July 17 and is a very popular sporting and social occasion which raises funds for the club.
