Ossett Albion win despite uneven performance

OSSETT ALBION took all three points after a 2-0 win in their clash with bottom-placed New Mills in the Evo-Stik First Division North.

A goal from Connor Brunt on 15 minutes set Albion on their way but as the game wore on the hosts relied more and more on the long ball to create a further openings.

New Mills worked tirelessly throughout but they struggled to forge any clear cut chances and test Brett Souter in the Albion goal.

In the 70th minute a well taken free-kick by Rob Bordman extended Albion’s lead but they still didn’t look comfortable.

The home side were unable to control the play and gave away possession too easily.

But despite not playing fluid attacking football against New Mills, Albion did enough to win comfortably and climb to 10th in the league table after a well deserved three points.
