Oakwell Motel thrash Battyeford to pick up first Premier win

ST JOHN FISHER sit three points clear at the top of the Heavy Woollen Sunday League Premier Division after Rob Hiscox (two), Andy Godding and Ricky Newman saw them win 4-0 at home to Millbridge WMC. 

Newly-promoted Oakwell Motel gained their first Premier Division win after hammering fellow newcomers Battyeford 6-1.

Nathan Hallas, Jordan Midwood, Jack Anderson, Jonny Beverley, Rob Ives and Ashley Peel all netted for Oakwell, with Ben Williams replying for Battyeford.

Thornhill Lees won a fiercely contested derby match 4-2 against near-neighbours Overthorpe Sports Club.

Aiden Schofield (two), Elliot Williams and Nathan Kemp netted for Lees, with Overthorpe replying through Jamie Beever and Tom Abbott.

A Joel Farrar double ensured current champions Birkenshaw started their season off with three points, winning 2-1 at AFC Chickenley, whose goal came from Daniel Tolson.

Mount Pleasant lead the Championship after maintaining their perfect start to the season with a 6-3 win at Hartshead.

Kieran Corley fired a hat-trick as Mirfield Town won 5-3 at Woodkirk Valley to preserve their unblemished start.

Birstall St Patricks shared the spoils with Barr Street in a 2-2 draw. Heckmondwike Sports Club earned their first victory of the season with a 2-1 win over Taylor and St John Fisher Reserves won 3-1 at Marsh.

Three teams are tied at the top of Division One, all with 100% records. Town Rangers lead on goal difference following their 4-2 win over Battyeford Reserves.

Ravenswharfe also have a perfect record after they gained a 2-1 win at Birkenshaw Reserves. Deighton WMC are also in the frame as they won 3-2 at Clifton Rangers.

Bay Horse East Ardsley edged past Overthorpe Sports Club Reserves with a 3-2 win. While, Navigation won 3-1 at Punch Bowl and Dewsbury Westside claimed the points in a 3-2 win over The Yorkshireman.

Scholes Athletic are the early pacesetters in Division Two as they went goal-crazy with a 7-1 win over Batley Irish Nash.

St Ignatius kicked off their season with a win after they edged a 3-2 victory at Six Lane Ends and Cobras enjoyed a 6-3 win over Batley Celtics. Clifton Rangers Reserves won 4-1 at home to FC Liversedge.
