New leaders at top of Spen Valley Premier

PALESTINO are a point clear at the top of the Spen Valley Football League Premier Division after an emphatic 5-1 win over Savile Youth.

Braces from Theo Bujra and Ben McCardle put Palestino in the driving seat before Abdur Rahim rounded of the win with a goal of his own.

Abdullah Aswat got Youth’s consolation.

Lower down the league standings and Hartshead played out an entertaining 3-3 draw against White Abbey Road.

Hartshead scored through Fenton, Folan and Leeming, but it wasn’t enough as Weedy Khan’s brace and Qaisar Qafor’s strike ensured the points were shared.

Meanwhile Idle edged a 5-4 thriller against second-bottom Hightown Jets thanks to strikes from Jack Strudwick (hat-trick) and Ryan Mitchell (two).

Dean Comins (hat-trick), James Mortimor and Nathan Clarke scored in reply.

And bottom place Savile United pulled off a surprise 6-3 win away at Vision.

Faisal Adam, Uzair Kola and Rizwan Ismail all netted twice for United.

In reply Josh Mortimor (two) and Chris Benn found the back of the net.

In the First Division only two games took place, with Mount Pleasant strolling to victory against Savile Town.

Saif Akbar netted four for Pleasant along with goals from Muhammad Omar and Sufyaan Hafez. Siraj Akbar was Town’s only scorer.

In the division’s other game league leaders Dewsbury West Side cruised to a 6-0 win over Norfolk.

Meanwhile Smokin Aces failed to fulfill their fixture against Howden Clough.
