DEWSBURY Moor Maroons made it back-to-back wins in National Conference League Division Three following a 22-10 win at home to Gateshead Storm.
In a close-fought contest it was Moor who opened the scoring through Jacob Flathers, who converted his own try.
But a defensive error allowed Gateshead back into the game with an unconverted try shortly afterwards.
When youngster Archie Bruce was introduced to the action Moor stepped up a gear and extended their lead through Max Vernon, who touched down in the corner for an unconverted try to make it 10-4 going into the interval.
In the second half man-of-the-match Jamie Samme crashed through after good work from Ashley Boddy. Flathers added the extras.
Samme then doubled his tally shortly afterwards with a fine try, which Flathers again converted to give Moor a commanding 22-4 advantage.
However, poor discipline from the hosts allowed Storm to narrow the deficit late on with a converted try to round off the game’s action.
The win moved Moor up to second in Division Three, a point behind leaders Crosfields, but the Maroons have the weekend off in the National Conference League. Their next game is at home to Drighlington Friday April 15.
