Llewellyn hits Hall Green for six

OVERTHORPE SPORTS UNDER-13s twice battled from being behind at Hall Green United to run out comfortable 12-5 winners.

The hosts played well in the first half with their big, burly centre forward creating havoc in the Sports defence.

Hall Green opened the scoring early but Alex Stonefield equalised with the first of his five-goal haul with a neat finish.

Stonefield then latched onto an excellent through ball from Brad Llewellyn to make it 2-1.

An unfortunate own goal from Max Chadderton saw Hall Green level before they regained the lead following a long-range shot.

Llewellyn then equalised with the first of his personal tally of six goals, Stonefield made it 4-3 before the home side equalised on the stroke of half-time.

The Sports took instant control from the restart with three quick goals, two from Stonefield and one to Llewellyn which knocked the stuffing out of the home side.

A much-improved second-half defensive effort from Joe Longstaffe and Callum Binns in particular, with Luke Halford and Chadderton also prominent, kept the visitors in control.

Brodie Haigh, Henry Loney and Georgia Jewitt were also working hard in midfield with Connah Megson making a few darting runs down the left wing.

Llewellyn added a further two with Megson also getting on the scoresheet before Hall Green added their fifth with the goal of the game with a superb left-foot shot which gave Sports keeper Nathan Hawker no chance.

Llewellyn added two further goals, including a penalty, to end the scoring at 12-5.
