LIVERSEDGE went top of the Northern Counties East League Premier table on Wednesday night (Aug 31) thanks to a comfortable 4-0 win away at Maltby Main.
Joe Walton edged the visitors in front on four minutes with an header from a Cody Cromack corner to give Jonathan Rimmington’s side the perfect start.
But Maltby Main were still in the game at half-time despite having Craig Mitchell sent off on the half-hour mark.
Sedge couldn’t capitalise on the one-man advantage until midway through the second period when Rhys Davies doubled his side’s lead.
Steve Wales then put the game to bed in the 78th minute before Vaughan Redford added to his already impressive tally this season with a goal seven minutes from time to make it 4-0.
Liversedge hope to hold onto top spot in the Premier Division with a win away at Barton Town Old Boys tomorrow (Saturday Sept 3, 3pm).
The defeat left Maltby in 13th spot level on points with Worksop Town in 11th.
