Liversedge face bottom side after postponement

LIVERSEDGE’S promotion challenge steps up this week with matches against Athersley Rec and Yorkshire Amateur.

Their league tie last Saturday against Bottesford Town was postponed due to a frozen pitch after an inspection on the morning of the game, making it the seventh Sedge match to be called off in just over two months.

The lack of action has seen them slip down to fifth place in the NCEL Premier Division table, two points off the promotion places, but they have won eight of their 12 matches this season.

Tomorrow (Saturday, kick-off 3pm) they travel to Barnsley to face Athersley Rec, who sit adrift at the bottom of the table with only four points and a goal difference of -52.

Three days later (Tuesday, kick-off 7.45pm) Yorkshire Amateur, who are only three points behind Sedge going into the weekend, head to Clayborn.
