Kear adds experience in Mills signing

Batley Bulldogs head coach John Kear has added some muscle to his threequarter line by securing the services of centre Danny Mills on a oneyear deal.
Mills, 29, was a member of Sheffield Eagles’ Grand Final losing side last season and has previously played for Widnes Vikings and Doncaster.
Kear says he had some concerns over the experience of his outside backs and believes Mills will be a brilliant addition to his squad.
He said: “I’m very pleased to have Danny on board for the new season.
“He’s an experienced threequarter, who can play centre or wing, he’s a big unit and has bags of pace.
“I’m certain he’ll be a brilliant addition to the side.
“We have some very exciting outside backs at the club but other than Ian Preece and Danny Maun, I was a little concerned over their experience.
“Danny (Mills) has told me he is coming here because he wants to win things and that is always a good thing to hear.”
Meanwhile, fans will be able to get a sneak peak of their newlook Batley Bulldogs on December 10 when Mount Pleasant opens its doors to the public. Chief executive Paul Harrison wants the people of Batley to come and see what the club is all about ahead of their preseason friendly campaign.
John Kear will be taking an open training session during the morning and the newlyrefurbished vicepresidents lounge will be on show throughout the day.
Harrison says the club are proud of their facilities and feel the time is right to showcase them to supporters.
He said: “The day is open to everybody; there is no stereotype whatsoever at this club, we just want to get as many people up here as possible.
“I think it will be a fantastic opportunity for fans to get an insight into how we do things at the club and the new vicepresidents suite will be finished too.
“Fans will then be welcome to visit the gym and watch the players train from the stands.
“These are very exciting times for the club and we want the people of Batley to be a part of it too.
There will be special drinks offers for season ticket holders and a whole lot more going on.”
Harrison also confirmed that the 2012 playing shirts will both be launched on December 3 at the XBlades store in Batley and will be on sale at the open day.
New Championship rugby league broadcasters Premier Sports have announced a ‘season ticket’ offer, which allows Bulldogs’ fans a discounted 12month subscription package.
The cost for channel’s services is £79.99, which is a saving of £21, and £10 of the subscription goes back to the club.
Premier Sports, which appears on Sky channel 433, took over the Championshipís coverage rights at the end of last season from Sky Sports.
This offer is available until March 31 2012 but fans are being urged to secure their viewing as soon as possible to help support the Bulldogs. For more information visit www.premiersports.tv.
