KBW boxers make their point

The thriving KBW boxing gym in Savile Town has seen a lot of action this past week, with four of its boxers competing.

Lewis Benson was in action in his first full amateur bout against K Scott from Hull Amateur Boxing. After three rounds Benson won a unanimous decision.

Only days after making his debut Benson was in action again last Friday evening, this time alongside teammate Dougie Price as they faced opponents from Halifax ABC.

After a close first round, Price came out with his aggressive style against opponent L Parkinson and won the final two rounds to take the fight by unanimous decision. Benson dominated his opponent C Green and also got a unanimous nod.

Price was in action the following day as he faced K Clark from Eastside ABC. Price boxed behind a high guard while landing cleaner shots as he won the fight by the judges’ decision.

Karan Singh was also in action on Saturday evening as he fought K Neilson, also from Eastside. After finishing the first round strongly Singh gained the upper hand in the second and after a flurry of successful shots Singh won by technical knock out.

Jerry Price defeated J Bunclark from the Ingles Boxing Gym in the Yorkshire School Boys Class B finals. Price controlled the bout and took all three rounds to win unanimously.

The club is preparing for a home show next Thursday (May 18). Saif Cheema will take part in his final amateur fight before he turns professional. The event will take place at the Orchid Banqueting Hall in Dewsbury and tickets can be bought from the KBW gym.
