Jewitt and Ellis clinch Overthorpe bowls title

NATHAN JEWITT and Robbie Ellis have won the Overthorpe Sports Club’s Over and Under 21 competition.

They won the £200 prize money by beating Nathan’s sister Georgia Jewitt and her partner Mark Dobson 21-18 in a top-quality final.

Excellent play from Ellis helped his pair take a commanding 10-1 lead before Georgia Jewitt and Dobson clawed their way back into the game taking the score to 15-12 before Ellis swapped leads with Nathan to take control at 20-12.

Once again Georgie Jewitt and Dobson fought back to trail 20-18, but a fine last end saw Nathan Jewitt and Ellis close out the game.

Earlier Ellis and Nathan Jewitt defeated Mark Lofthouse and Tom Thorpe 21-13, Brian Macdonald and Matty Thorpe 21-3 before accounting for John and Marc Armitage 21-20 in a superb semi-final.
