HOWDEN CLOUGH U17s have written their name into the club’s history books.
The boys have become the first U17s side at Howden Clough to claim the Huddersfield RCD Junior League Division One title.
Clough won 16 of their 20 games in the league, losing only twice, and finished the season on 50 points, six clear of their nearest rivals.
The team, managed by Graham Teale and Chris Bickers, have come close to success in the past, reaching the final of the Blackburn Cup in 2013, only to lose on penalties.
Clough also reached the County Cup semi finals last year, losing 3-1.
It looked as if it was going to be another season of near misses for the side after they crashed out of the cup, losing 5-0 at the hands of 3D Dynamos.
But the team picked themselves back up and went on an impressive nine-game winning streak to clinch top spot and lift the league trophy.
This ended a long overdue wait for silverware since the current team took shape around five years ago.
Manager Graham Teale said: “It’s been an honour and a priviledge to work with such a talented group of lads and after three years of hard work we have finally achieved our goal.
“To win division one is a great achievement and it is without a doubt the toughest league in the area. I am so proud of the whole team.”
