Hightown thrash Savile Town to keep winning streak

HIGHTOWN JETS maintained their unbeaten run in the SPEN VALLEY MEMORIAL TROPHY with an 11-0 mauling of Savile Town.

Kyle Kershaw and Nathan Clarke both netted hat-tricks, with goals from Dean Comins (two), Ryan Haynes, James Mortimor and Ryan Foster completing the scoring and ensuring the Jets stay top of Group B, with five wins from five matches.

In the same group Howden Clough edged local rivals Fox and Hounds Batley 5-3 in a high-scoring thriller.

Paul Beaumont, Sam Hetherington and Tynan Neagle netted for the visitors. But replies from Joe Armitage, Corey Starkey, Simy Moore, Lewis Boddy and Ryan Kerracher secured the points for Howden Clough – who have kept pace with the league leaders.

Inter Batley remain rooted to the bottom of Group B following a 2-0 defeat at second-place Palestino.

George Healey kept top spot and their unbeaten record in Group A with a hard-fought 3-1 win at basement club Cleckheaton Sporting.

Benho Aparicio was the star of the show with a hat-trick, with Sporting netting a consolation through Liam Roadknight.

In the same group Norfolk claimed the local bragging rights and three points with a 3-2 victory over Mount Pleasant.

Eugene’s double and a single goal from Ismail Loonat completed their tally, with Zade Lunat (two) replying for the visitors.

Smokin Aces were the only Heavy Woollen side in league action on Saturday as they slipped to a 4-1 defeat to Bradford Athletic in the PREMIER DIVISION.

Mohammed Seedat scored the Aces only goal and they remain one point adrift in the relegation places, after Whitburn Athletic secured an unlikely draw at second-placed Route 1 Rovers.
