The great escape in Liversedge's hands

LIVERSEDGE drew 1-1 with Thackley to edge closer to safety in the Northern Counties East League Premier on Tuesday night.

The game was close throughout but Sedge took a slender lead in the 64th minute when Rhys Jenkinson broke the deadlock.

Jonathan Rimmington’s side looked set to win their second game in four days, but a Thomas Dugdale strike four minutes from time meant the Clayborn side had to settle for a point.

But last Saturday Liversedge collected all three points on the road against Barton Town Old Boys thanks to a 4-2 win.

The victory earned Liversedge a league double over Barton.

Benny Igiehon (two), Tinotenda Chibaro and Brandon Kane got the goals for the away side. Gareth Owen netted a brace in reply for the hosts.

Liversedge host Pickering Town tomorrow (Saturday, 3pm) in what is their first of seven home games between now and the end of the season as they look to further boost their survival ambitions.
