Fisher's girls excel in schools finals

CAITLIN BEEVERS was named player of the game with four tries for St John Fisher who thumped Sirius 46-12 to clinch the Champion Schools Cup in Richmond.

Casey Rhodes, Codie Slack and Ellie Oldroyd all scored tries in the first half with Beevers crossing twice to put Fisher in a commanding position.

Things soon got worse for Sirius when they had a player sent off for violent conduct just before the break and trailed 28-0 in a below-par first half performance.

After the restart Beevers quickly completed her hat-trick early in the second half to put the game beyond Sirius. But Kayleigh Waller did get on the scoresheet for the losing side, twice converting her own tries to make the scoreline look more respectable.

Fisher’s Rhodes grabbed her second try midway through the half before Beevers wrapped things up late on.

St John Fisher’s winning squad in full: Caitlin Beevers, Olivia Cummins, Grace Whitehead, Shauna Parish, Charlotte Graham, Millie Taylor, Casey Rhodes, Ellie Oldroyd, Lacie Bruins, Codie Slack, Siobhan McKinnel, Jess Day, Peyton Bentley, Alicia Sherridan, Jodie Willans.

Elsewhere Fisher’s Year 7 girls were narrowly beaten 28-24 in their final against St Peter’s.
