Ossett Rugby Union almost made history this weekend with four senior teams all due to play on the same day, including their newly-formed Ladies side.
Unfortunately, Rossington Hornets, who were due to play the 1st XV, called their game off late Friday night.
Ossett 2nd XV faced off against Pontefract 3rd XV in the Merit League fixture and secured another bonus-point win with a 25-13 scoreline.
Elliot Gierula made a welcome return in the front row and, along with the other forwards, made a big impact for Ossett.
In a scrappy affair John Neal led the team around the field backed up by Tom Sprott and Adam Race.
Ossett did lose Ollie Lightfoot to injury but ground out their bonus-point win and kept the pressure on league leaders Nestle Rowntrees.
Ossett 3rd XV travelled to Castleford Development, led by Paul Westerman and ran out 17-5 winners.
The game saw some familiar faces make their return with John Peat still turning out.
There were some notable performances from Mark Buckborough and Jim Edginton who made his debut at stand-off.
Ossett Ladies played their first home game against a pacey York side but were unable to clinch the victory in what was a hard-fought game, eventually losing out 22-5.
Next week Ossett 1st XV are away at Rotherham Phoenix while the Veterans travel to Jersey for the annual 10s tournament.
Last year the Veterans reached the final and will be hoping to go one better this time around.
