BATLEY BULLDOGS chairman Kevin Nicholas and chief executive Paul Harrison will be joined by a group of fans as they take on a 127-mile bike ride challenge next week.
The club directors will be joined by fans Rob Earnshaw, Andrew Dart, Malcolm Westerby and Richard Drake in their attempts to cycle the Liverpool to Leeds canal route.
The charity ride is in memory of club stalwart and Batley director Ron Earnshaw, Rob’s father, who died last year.
Harrison said: “The Rugby League Benevolent Fund was close to Ron’s heart and we will be doing the ride in his memory.”
The cyclists will set off from Liverpool next Friday (10am), staying overnight in Burnley. They will then attempt the 127-mile ride on Saturday before attending Batley Bulldogs’ home game against Sheffield on Sunday.
The Batley group are no strangers to such charity events having completed a 50-mile walk from Batley to Leigh and a combined 70-mile bike ride and 30-mile walk last year.
