Celtic win at Wizards to maintain perfect start

Dewsbury Celtic’s superb start to the season continued with a 286 victory at the home of the defending champions.
Celtic prop Elliott Smith began the impressive display from the visitors, powering over for an unconverted try in the third minute.
The Wizards levelled when Scott Davidson broke clear and Alan Reddecliff capitalised on good handling to race 20 metres to the try line.
Warren Ayres’ goal put the hosts ahead but few could have predicted that they would not trouble the scoreboard again.
Wizards’ were the masters of their own downfall as they fell behind, losing possession on their own line, allowing Dewsbury stand off Josh West to pick up the loose ball and dot it down for the easiest of touchdowns. Niki Crabtree goaled and Celtic led 106 at the break.
Celtic extended their advantage five minutes into the second half, dummying and stepping his way through to the posts.
In the 54th minute, tireless prop Alex Walmsley twisted his way out of a multiple tackle and managed to plant the ball down, Crabtree again adding the extras.
On the hour Warrington’s cause was made even harder when prop Wez Lawton was sin binned for dissent and, making the most of the extra man, fine combination play from Dewsbury enabled Liam Walmsley to break through and motor to the posts, Crabtree’s goal completing the scoring.
It’s now three from three for Heaton’s men and next up is a trip to Wales to face the Valley Cougars.
