Birkenshaw send Navigation off course

NEWLYCROWNED Championship winners Birkenshaw stunned their Premier Division opponents Navigation 42 in an exciting Heavy Woollen CHALLENGE CUP semifinal.

Michael Smith bagged a double for Birkenshaw, who also had Lee Brook and Joel Farrar on the scoresheet.

Birkenshaw now face St John Fisher in the final at Ossett Albion next month.

Littletown missed out on going top of the PREMIER DIVISION after they lost 65 at West End. Garrett Stead scored twice for West End, who also had goals from Gibril Bojang, Joel Clegg, Andy Pounder and Liam Gowan. 

Lee McKeown (2), Jordan Maltas, Ricky Newman and an own goal accounted for Littletown’s strikes. 

Littletown lie a point behind leaders St John Fisher but Fisher have a game in hand. Thornhill Lees are third after a 33 draw with Towngate, while Thirsty Man picked up a 54 win over bottom side Battyeford. 

In the CHAMPIONSHIP, Woodman Batley Carr finished runnersup after a 31 win at lowly Scholes Athletic.

Elsewhere, Hartshead climbed to fifth spot after brushing aside Howden Clough 61.

Gomersal closed in on the top spot in DIVISION ONE, handing out a 70 drubbing at Birkenshaw Reserves. 

Hightown enjoyed a 41 win over Overthorpe Town and Bay Horse East Ardsley earned their first point of the season in a 66 draw at Taylor

In DIVISION TWO, Barr Street slipped up in their quest to finish runnersup after losing 21 at home to Ravenswharfe. 

Meanwhile, Batley Irish Nash sit fourth after recording a 41 over Rising Sun.
