BATTYEFORD Belles entertain Hebden Royd in the First Division of the West Riding County League this week as they try to shake off the disappointment of last week’s League Cup semi-final exit at the hands of Bradford City.
The arch-rivals have twice been promoted together, City having won the division, and though Belles look favourites to take the title this time they do still need to win four of their last five games to make certain.
Hopes of a league and cup double were high after taking the lead in the semi-final but City hit back and secured victory with two goals from Ikra Ali.
In the Premier Division Ossett Town go to much-improved relegation candidates Gledhow having seen their title hopes all but disappear in recent weeks.
Meanwhile Ossett Albion’s bubble has been well and truly burst in the North East Regional League Southern Division.
After a good start to March a 6-1 defeat by Farsley brought it to a disappointing end – only for them to lose 7-1 to Sheffield Wednesday just four days later.
Nikki Swift set up Gemma Patterson for the Albion goal at Wednesday, but they will definitely be hoping for something more from the game at Malet Lambert this week.
