A BUMPER crowd packed into Dewsbury Rams’ Tetley’s Stadium for the annual Heavy Woollen ARL finals night on Wednesday.
With Dewsbury Celtic and Thornhill Trojans on show, battling it out for the coveted Jim Brown Cup, as well as Celtic’s second team and Shaw Cross Sharks A, the stage was set for a fantastic evening of amateur rugby league.
And the 1,200 people present did not leave disappointed.
The Sharks, down 19-6 at the break, battled back superbly to run out 25-19 winners in the evening’s first contest – the John Kane Cup final.
And it was more of the same during the second match-up as Dewsbury Celtic overcame Thornhill Trojans 28-12 in a hard-fought affair.
Shaw Cross’ Martin Holland was named man of the match for his efforts during the Sharks’ emphatic fightback, while Celtic star Danny Thomas took the honours after guiding his men past the Trojans.
