WORLD darts star Simon Whitlock this week invited hundreds of staff from a local paint supplier to challenge him at the oche.
Whitlock, 44, took on employees of his main backer, Birstall-based Leyland Paints, and the Australian delivered a masterclass.
A special nine-dart challenge, which saw staff attempt to beat the world champion’s score with nine darts to his six, proved a huge hit with staff.
Twenty of the decorating giant’s employees held their nerve to beat the man they call ‘The Wizard’ at his own game.
“We’re delighted to be able to continue our sponsorship of Simon and are looking forward to an exciting few months following his progress and cheering him on – we’ll be with him every step of the way,” said Leyland marketing manager Vicky Jones.
“Looking at the results of the challenge it seems we’ve got some budding darts stars here at Leyland too – so watch this space!
“I know the staff were thrilled to meet Simon, who is easily one of the most colourful characters in darts.”
