Why US fan Joe is backing Rangers

AN AMATEUR football team from Dewsbury have sent a shirt to a new fan in California who discovered them through the internet.
Dewsbury Rangers, who run junior and senior sides, were contacted by San Francisco resident Joe Dews.
Soccer fan Joe believes his family are from Dewsbury and wanted to support a local team.
An online search led him to the Rangers.
Said Joe, who also supports Liverpool: “It appears that five Dews brothers came to the USA in about 1850, from the Dewsbury, Ossett and Horbury areas.”
Rangers, the West Riding County FA club of the year in 2011, have junior teams from age six to under18s and three open age men’s sides.
Club secretary Graham Burton said: “It just goes to show that the hard work of our volunteers gets our message across worldwide.
“We were delighted to hear from Joe. He contacted us for a shirt and we received a photo of him, right, in front of the Golden Gate Bridge in return."
