A THIEF stole a man's wallet in Birstall after giving the stranger a lift home from a bus stop.
The 65-year-old victim was waiting for a bus in the town centre when the driver of a white Ford car pulled over.
A lift was offered and the man accepted and got in despite not knowing the car driver.
Having dropped him off, the driver went to the victim's house a few minutes later claiming he had dropped something in his car.
While in the house between 3pm and 4pm on August 10 the victim's wallet, which contained cash, was stolen.
PC Sarah Culley of Kirklees CID, said and e-fit image of the suspect has been compiled.
"Enquiries are ongoing regarding this distraction burglary and we would like to speak to anyone who can identify the man pictured," she said.
"We would advise residents to be vigilant regarding this type of con, and ask anyone who has been approached by a man in similar circumstances to contact the police."
