Two-month old baby found dead at home

A TWO-month old child was found dead at her home in Dewsbury on New Year’s Day.

The girl’s parents were arrested following the incident but were soon released pending further enquiries.

Police attended the home on Pildacre Lane, which links Chickenley with Ossett, just before 6am on January 1 to reports of an unwell child.

The girl was found unresponsive and taken to Pinderfields Hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The 26-year-old man and 24-year-old woman, both initially arrested on suspicion of neglect, were released without charge pending further investigation.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out but the cause of death remains “unascertained”.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said that enquiries are ongoing.
