A TOP hospital chief has been re-appointed – on an annual allowance of nearly £40,000 a year.
Jules Preston MBE will serve as chairman of the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust board until March 31 2016.
The non-executive appointment, made by the NHS Trust Development Authority, carries remuneration of £39,406 a year.
Mr Preston was chairman of the Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust for six years.
He was also a non-executive director at the now defunct strategic health authority for the North East.
Mr Preston arrived at Mid-Yorkshire, which runs Dewsbury District Hospital, last year after previous chairman Ed Anderson quit.
Mr Preston said: “I’m delighted to have been re-appointed. These are challenging but exciting times for the trust.
“But thanks to the hard work, talent and dedication of our staff and support of our partners we’re making good progress.
“It’s a pleasure to be able to continue to support the trust's work to develop healthcare services to be proud of.”
