THE COUNCILLOR allegedly at the centre of a tax arrears budget vote fiasco has been named.
Labour’s Jean Calvert (Ashbrow) is charged with offences under the Local Government Act and is due to appear at Bradford Magistrates’ court on Thursday August 1.
The Press pursued the identity of a councillor thought to have taken part in February’s budget vote while in council tax arrears.
Kirklees Council said they could not discuss the matter, believed at first to involve a councillor from North Kirklees, any further as the police were involved.
West Yorkshire Police confirmed yesterday (Thurs) that Coun Calvert, a foromer mayor and current Cabinet member for Health, Wellbeing and Communities, had been charged over the matter.
