Students graduate in style at Town Hall

SISTERS from Dewsbury were among 90 students who received their degrees in a ceremony on Tuesday.

Chelsie and Danielle Austin attended the Kirklees College event, which was followed by a party for family and friends.

Danielle, 21 has a foundation degree in exercise and fitness while 23-year-old Chelsie completed a foundation degree in child learning and development.

The event was at Dewsbury Town Hall. New college chairman of governors, former Batley West councillor Geoff Alvy, also attended.

Kirklees College degrees are validated by the University of Huddersfield and Leeds Metropolitan University.

Students from 17 courses attended the ceremony, including those from art, design, computing, counselling and fashion.

The college’s director of higher education, June Durraant, said: “Graduation day is a fantastic day of celebration for our whole community.

“We’re really pleased to be have held the celebration in the heart of Dewsbury in such a fabulous building.

“The location gave the day a real sense of occasion. We look forward to celebrating the successes our graduates have in the future.”
