Starlet Phoebe lands plum Playhouse role

ASPIRING Liversedge actress Phoebe Roberts has landed the title role in a spectacular new production of ‘Annie’ that opened in Leeds this week.
Elevenyearold Phoebe was chosen to play the dream musical role at the West Yorkshire Playhouse after auditioning alongside hundreds of other young hopefuls during July and August.
Phoebe, who attends Heckmondwike’s Stuart Stage School, made her professional debut at the tender age of seven in the UK tour of Doctor Dolittle alongside the ledgendary Tommy Steele had has since appeared in Evita, Whistle Down the Wind, Joseph and Les Miserables.
She is also a midassociate of the Royal Ballet School and earlier this year turned down a fulltime place at the RBS’s prestigious White Lodge school as she didn’t feel ready to leave home or turn her back on her love of musical theatre.
Phoebe is performing as Annie alongside TV actor Duncan Preston as Mr Warkbucks and Verity Rushforth as Grace. The show runs at the Playhouse until January 2012 and Phoebe has thoroughly enjoyed rehearsals, coupled with recent promotional TV appearances and magazine shoots.
