Snooker club dealers jailed

FOUR drug dealers who used a Batley snooker club as a front have been jailed for a total of 14 years.
Zafar Hyder Iqbal, Jabbar Zafar Hyder, Ibrar Iqbal and Akhlaq Khan were sentenced at Bradford Crown Court last Friday.
The court heard how they were recorded in the act of dealing skunk cannabis on their own CCTV cameras at the Hot Spot Club on Bradford Road.
They had earlier pleaded guilty to Class B drugs offences following an 11month operation by undercover police.
Further drug dealing took place at the flat next door and at a property in Savile Street. Police investigated from May 2008 to April 2009.
Cannabis worth £40,000 was found, along with £13,000 in cash, a stun gun and bullets. Property and other assets worth £1m were also seized.
Zafar Iqbal was jailed for six years, Hyder for four years, Ibrar Iqbal for three years and Khan for 12 months.
Kirklees Police’s Det Chief Insp Andy White said: “They were so blatant in their offending that their drug dealing was caught on their own CCTV cameras. This helped us to secure even more evidence against them. We are very glad to see them behind bars.
“Their stupidity notwithstanding, this was a sensitive undercover operation. The officers involved put themselves at risk and deserve the highest praise.
“We are determined to rid the streets of Batley of people like Iqbal and his cronies.”
