THE NEW multi-million pound Springfield Sixth Form Centre in Dewsbury officially opened its doors last week.
The educational centre, part of Kirklees College, is the result of an £11.1million grant from the Leeds City Region, and is part a £1billion package of government investment to accelerate growth and create jobs.
Built in partnership with Kirklees Council, and with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the state-of-the-art centre off Bradford Road is one of the first of a number of projects taking place under the North Kirklees Growth Strategy.
It will offer high-quality vocational programmes for students as part of the Dewsbury Learning Quarter project.
Council leader Shabir Pandor (Lab, Batley West) said: "The new Springfield Centre is a wonderful addition to the splendid Kirklees College.
"This is an important part of our ambition to transform our economy for the benefit of everyone who lives and works here."
