Shoebox gifts for needy kids

DISABLED youngsters from a Mirfield school have packed shoeboxes with Christmas gifts for needy children around the world.
The Hollybank School pupils collected goodies on behalf of the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child appeal.
The shoeboxes will go to children in stricken parts of Africa and central Asia.
Seven pupils from Hollybank’s Class Two worked with staff and parents to collect and pack the presents.
The school is part of the Hollybank Trust, which cares for children and adults with profound physical disabilities from their base in Far Common Road.
Class Two teacher Claire Harrowell said: “We wanted enough gifts for them to fill a shoebox each, but we ended up with so many that we filled two each.
“The students have created their own wrapping papers to make each box as individual as possible.”
