Share your views on Academies

A DROPIN session is to be hosted at Batley Town Hall to review how Kirklees Council supports local academy school bids.
It runs from 10am to 1pm on Wednesday December 14 and will focus on the consultation process to try and spread ‘good practice’ for future academy groups.
The session is being run by a newlyestablished council scrutiny panel which is reviewing the guidance offered to interested parties.
They will not be looking at the pros or cons of individual schools going for academy status or whether applying is a good idea in general.
But they want to hear from anyone who has applied about their experiences and how Kirklees can improve their support to bidders.
Parents, teachers, governors, councillors and community groups are welcome to attend. A similar session will be held in Huddersfield Town Hall on Monday.
Panel chairman Coun Beryl Smith (Con) said: “We want to hear from anyone who wants to share their views about improving the current process.”
A questionnaire is also available online at: http://

Further feedback can be sent to scrutiny.governance@kirklees.gov.uk or by calling the scrutiny office on 01484 221864.
